Schedule
Day 1: Cluj-Napoca – Sighișoara – Viscri – Bran
Start at 07:30am. The medieval town center of Sighișoara is very well preserved (UNESCO World Heritage Site). We walk through the citadel and visit, among others, the emblem of the town, the Clock Tower, the Church on the Hill, the Citadel, the fortified walls and towers of the town and also the birthplace of the Wallachian leader Vlad Dracul, who later became known as Count Dracula in Gothic literature and film. Here, we also enjoy a shot of local plum brandy. In the afternoon, we drive across Transylvania towards Bran Castle, also known as the ‘Dracula Castle’. The impressive fortification dates back to the 14th century and has a lot of stories to tell, some related to the myth of Dracula, but some also related to the the Romanian royal family. Drive back to Cluj-Napoca.
