Tour details
Maramureș – located in the north-western part of the country – is Romania’s most pristine region due to its many customs and traces of a unique wood architecture and to the fact that traditional lifestyles are still predominant. Here, wood has been one of the main construction materials for centuries and the wooden churches are representative for the architecture that developed in this area.
Bukovina – a small but beautiful region, with a charming landscape, wonderful mountains and forests, is considered to be the cradle of Romanian orthodoxy. The monasteries are adorned with rich frescoes that decorate the inner walls but also the outside walls. Thus, the scenes create a vivid, imposing image of the Christianity at that time.
